Summary

Fontelunga combines traditional architecture with more contemporary interior design to create the setting for a unique villa experience.   Original details such as barrel vaulted ceilings on the ground floor have been preserved, while the owners, all from creative backgrounds, have combined efforts, using color, fabrics, and a mix of contemporary and traditional furnishing to create an environment of relaxation, and luxury.  The service available at the villa support the luxurious physical environment, your experience can be customized to fit your needs.

Fine Points

Exterior

The outside of the house has 3 sets of French doors that open up to a manicured lawn. There are views of olive groves, and Cortona beyond.  Al fresco dining can be enjoyed on the large terrace or in the gazebo and within the grounds are the swimming pool, ample chaises, and a tennis court.

Interior

Ground Floor
An Open Layout connects the four main spaces, the dining area, and 3 different sitting areas.  A brick vaulted ceiling extends from one side of the villa to the other side, as well as hand thrown terracotta floors. There is a mix of contemporary and traditional art throughout the house.  Much of the interior is a mix of whites, accented with bits of primary colors.

The kitchen area has a light grey marble banquette, professional stove and dishwasher, and opens up to the dining area.  There is also an “honesty bar” at the guests disposal, and a large wood dining table with ample seating for 18 people.

There is a corner fireplace in the sitting area that abuts the dining area, with an antique desk and allows access to a half bath.  The additional sitting area has an entertainment system with flat screen TV, DVD, and I-Pod hookup for the stereo system.

First Floor

Looking up from the staircase leading to the first and second floor is a beautiful ceiling mural.  The upper floors concentrate on individual space while the ground floor is the base for socializing, providing peaceful sanctuary for those who want peace and quiet.

The Bedrooms

The guest rooms of the villa are classically proportioned and individually styled. Each room offers double aspect views over the surrounding gardens and countryside and all have air conditioning a stereo CD player, telephone and modern en-suite bathroom with tub or shower. All rooms are named after a precious stone, and the colors of each room are based on that theme.

Esmerelda

Esmerelda has silk bedspreads, decorative silk shades (there are shutters in each room as well),  terracotta floors, and antique armoire, dual bedside lights, and an ensuite bath with mosaic “visazza” tiles, tub/shower and bidet.

Tormalina

A rose colored bedspread, and silk shades add color and ambiance.  There is a dresser/vanity, armoire, and dual bedside lights that complete the room.    The ensuite bathroom has an overhead shower, and bidet.

Granato

The dark burgundy silk drapes, and bedspread with dresser/vanity, two chairs complete a comfortable place to read, with an ensuite bathroom with tub/shower and bidet.

Avorio

The Ivory silk shades and bedspread add light accents to the room.  There is an armoire, vanity, and ensuite bathroom with dual sinks, bidet, and tub with overhead shower.

Second Floor

The Bedrooms

Ambra

There are amber shades and bedspread, a large armoire, dual bedside lights, and ensuite bathroom with bidet, and tub with overhead shower.

Turchese

There are turquoise silk bedspreads and shades, vanity, an armoire, dual bedside lights, and ensuite bath with shower, and bidet.

Ametista

There is a purple toned silk shade and bedspread giving a playful quality to the room.  There are two chairs, a small table, and dual lights by the bed.  The ensuite bath has a tub with a shower.

Guest Annex

Diamond

The guest suite is large and has silvery blue shades, and bedspread, dual bedside lights, a sitting area, a built in armoire, TV/DVD, and it opens to the garden.    The ensuite bathroom has a shower, and separate tub with a marble top.

• Towels are changed as needed, linen changed once per week.

• There is a person available by phone to make booking, and solve any problems.
